General Questions

3
What is bird netting used for?

Bird netting is a mesh screen that stops pigeons and other birds reaching a space, so they can't perch, nest or foul it. Our bird netting services in Pune fit it on balconies, society terraces and ducts, warehouses, factories and solar arrays. For narrow ledges we use bird spikes instead.

Can I put a net on my balcony in Pune?

Yes. Stainless steel hooks go into the balcony's concrete or brick border and the net is stretched taut between them. Where grills or hooks already exist, we reuse them. Check your society's rules before booking, and we confirm the layout at the free site survey.

Will my society object to a balcony net?

Usually not. A balcony net is light and doesn't alter the building's structure, but each society sets its own rules on exterior fittings. Let your society office know before the visit, particularly if hooks will be fixed or terrace access is needed.

Is bird netting safe and humane for birds?

Yes. The net is simply a barrier, so birds are kept out rather than caught. Trapping happens only with oversized mesh or slack netting, which is why we match the mesh to the birds on your site, keep it tight and seal every corner.

Will pigeons be able to tear or chew through the net?

Not through good UV-stabilised nylon or HDPE. The strands are too tough for a beak. Failures come from loose fitting, gaps around corners or cheap untreated mesh, so tension, anchoring and material quality decide how long the net holds.

Which works better on a balcony: bird spikes or bird netting?

For an open balcony, netting wins because it closes off the whole area. Spikes only discourage landing on thin surfaces like rails, sills and AC tops, and pigeons can still enter and settle on the floor. Spikes are harmless to birds but limited in reach.

Can I use bird spikes and bird netting together?

Yes, and some sites need both. The net covers the open balcony, while spikes guard any ledge, AC top or signboard that sits outside the net. We'll tell you at the free inspection whether your space really needs both.

What is the difference between bird netting and an invisible grill?

Netting is a barrier made to keep birds out. An invisible grill is a set of tensioned cables meant to prevent falls, and its wide spacing lets pigeons fly straight through. We install bird and safety nets only, not grills. See our comparison of bird nets and invisible grills for the detail.

Does bird netting stop children or pets from falling?

A standard bird net isn't designed to arrest a fall. For children and pets we fit a separate safety net in thick monofilament nylon, anchored with stainless steel hardware and rated for roughly 50 to 80 kg of impact, varying with the mesh gauge. We choose the gauge at the free inspection.

How do I pigeon-proof my balcony permanently?

Close off the open area with a properly tensioned net, paying attention to corners, AC ducts and door tracks. Put spikes on any ledge the net can't cover, and clear old droppings and nest material first, since pigeons return to the same spot.

Pricing & Estimates

3
How much does bird netting cost per square foot in Pune?

Rates are set per square foot, but the figure changes with the mesh, how high the building is and how many corners and fixtures the net must work around. Because of that, we measure on site and send an itemised quote rather than a flat number.

What will it cost to net my balcony?

Your balcony's area and chosen mesh drive the price. The itemised quote after our free visit lists the mesh, the area covered and the fixing hardware separately, and any existing hooks or grills we can reuse bring the total down.

What is the price of bird net per meter?

We don't price by the meter or roll. Price follows the area being covered, so we measure in square feet and quote for that exact space. Share the dimensions or book a free visit and you'll get a figure for your balcony, not a generic rate.

What makes one bird netting quote higher than another?

Four things: the area covered, the mesh and thickness chosen, the building's height, and the number of corners or fixtures to fit around. Reusing existing hooks or grills can reduce the total.

Do I pay for the site visit, and are there hidden costs?

No. The site visit and estimate are free, with no obligation to book. You receive an itemised quote afterwards, so every cost for mesh, hardware and installation is visible before you decide.

Materials & Quality

2
What is the best material for bird netting?

It depends on where it goes. Fine nylon suits balconies because it is light and almost invisible from a distance. Thicker HDPE copes better with big terraces, industrial roofs and heavy wind or sun. Both are UV-stabilised, and we recommend one at the site survey.

Why does UV protection matter in bird netting?

Untreated plastic turns brittle in strong sun and snaps long before it should. UV stabilisers slow that breakdown, which is how a quality net can serve for 5 to 8 years while a cheap one can fail within a season or two.

Which mesh size suits pigeons and which suits small birds?

Balcony nets generally use openings from 3/4 inch up to 2 inches (roughly 19 to 50 mm). Bigger openings are usually enough for pigeons, while sparrows, other small birds, children and pets call for a tighter weave. We settle the size at the inspection.

Is black or white bird netting better?

Black is the usual choice: it fades into the background and is hardest to see from a distance. A white or green mesh can suit a light facade better. Colour matters less than UV treatment and material quality.

Will bird netting make my balcony darker or reduce airflow?

Barely. The mesh is open and thin, so daylight and breezes pass through, and black strands practically disappear against the outdoors from a few feet away. Most residents stop noticing the net within days.

Installation Process

2
How many hours does bird net installation take?

For a typical flat, plan on 2 to 4 hours. A society terrace or duct area usually needs at least a day, and warehouses or factories take longer still. We can often arrange same-day installation if it's urgent.

How is bird netting installed on a balcony?

A technician measures the balcony, you agree the mesh, stainless steel hooks and a border cable are fixed, then the net is drawn tight and secured at corners, ducts and door tracks. We test the tension, tidy up and take you round the finished job.

Should I install bird netting myself or hire a professional?

A small net can be DIY, but slack tension, gaps and weak anchor points are why many home-fitted nets let birds back in. A professional fits it taut and sealed, and the work comes under our installation warranty.

What is included in a professional installation?

The free survey, a mesh recommendation, cutting to size, stainless steel hooks and border cable, tensioning, removal of old droppings and nesting debris, a final check and a handover walkthrough. The warranty is part of the job.

Can I still reach my AC outdoor unit, plants or drying area?

Yes, if you tell us at the free survey what you need to get to. We measure around the AC outdoor unit, plants or drying space and plan the net so they stay within reach.

Can the net be removed for cleaning or painting?

Yes. It can be unhooked for painting, cleaning or repairs and put back afterwards. The stainless steel hooks stay in the balcony border.

How are the edges secured so birds can't squeeze through?

Each net is cut with spare material at the edges, pulled tight and fixed with rings wherever it meets a corner, a door track or an AC duct. Before leaving we inspect every seam, because any gap bigger than the mesh is an entry point.

Warranty & Support

2
How many years can I expect from a bird net in Pune?

With UV-stabilised material, expect roughly 5 to 8 years in Pune. Actual life depends on sun exposure, how tight the net is kept and how it is looked after.

What warranty do you provide?

Every installation carries a 3-year warranty. It covers the material (defects and UV degradation), the installation (fitting, tension and hardware) and workmanship, and warranty holders get a free yearly checkup.

What maintenance does bird netting need?

Very little. Rinse off dust now and then, check the edges after a monsoon downpour, and patch small tears rather than replacing the net.

Do you offer repair or replacement services?

Yes. We fix tears and hardware faults, and we can replace an old net entirely when repair no longer makes sense.

Can I leave bird netting up all year?

Yes. It's made for outdoor use in every season, from summer heat to monsoon rain. Leave it in place and have it looked over once a year and after any severe storm.
